Biography:
Mia is a granddaughter of Holocaust survivors. Her father,
Sheldon, a journalist for The Canadian Jewish News, was born
in a Displaced person camp in Germany in 1946. He met her
mother, Etti, a Bulgarian, in Israel. Kirshner has a younger
sister.
Kirshner studied Russian literature at McGill University
in Montreal.
Before entering the movies, she worked for Canadian and
US television. After gaining almost overnight prominence
in the Canadian film business with roles in Love & Human
Remains (1993) and Exotica (1994), Mia Kirshner appeared
in The Crow: City of Angels, Not Another Teen Movie and the
critically acclaimed tv show, "24." Mia played Sarah
Logan in the pilot for the tv show "D.C." but the role was
later re-cast.
